The 3 Body Problem
The 3 Body Problem is a multi-layered visual journey, which invites viewers to engage from different and diverse perspectives. The work draws on archival photographic material sourced from the artist's family’s historical collection as well as the Wellcome Collection. The work transforms the wall into a dynamic surface where images shift and reveal themselves based on the viewer’s position and movement through the space and around the building itself.
Three distinct images—fragmented, reimagined, and magnified—feature human figures, objects, and abstract forms, all of which coexist within the composition. Together they weave moments of human presence and scientific exploration, and create a conceptual link between the artwork and the function of the building that hosts it.
From a distance, the installation appears monumental and cohesive, but as viewers approach and move alongside it, hidden details emerge, instilling a sense of discovery. This unfolding experience encourages reflection on the intersection of the familiar and the unknown, mirroring the very act of exploration.
Ultimately, the installation engages its audience in a dialogue with the past, the present, and their own perceptions, offering new ways of seeing with each encounter.
