Creating Diasporic Worlds

Creating Diasporic Worlds brings together the three projects that were selected as a result of the competition call Creative Commissions, inviting creative collaborations between academics and artists that explore diasporic identities, cultures, politics and ways of being:

THE GREEN LINE IN LONDON’S GREEN LANES by Olivia Melkonian, Anoushka Berberian and Dr Rebecca Jinks.

LIQUID NARRATIVES by Anastasia Mina and Dr Konstantinos Argianas.

APHRODITE’S SISTERS by Theopisti Stylianou-Lambert, Antigone Heraclidou, Giorgos Papantoniou and Christine E. Morris. 

Funded by the Centre for Greek Diaspora Studies, and the Centre for the GeoHumanities at Royal Holloway University of London, the Cyprus High Commission in the UK, the Fitzwilliam Museum – University of Cambridge.

In I, Cactus AND, artists A. Mina and H. Michael present their new body of work in response to what they consider to be systemic bias against the feminine within societal structures. Comprising sculpture, print and sound, the work will function as a performance installation, relying on the activation of the imaginative space within each viewer to generate meaning.   

Created under the banner of a performance platform founded by the artists in 2014.

A group show featuring Elena Gileva, Caroline Jane Harris, Anastasia Mina, curated by Chloe Stavrou –“Piecemeals” opens on 20 June, 6 – 9 pm. The exhibition runs between June 21 – 23 from12 pm until 6 pm daily. A piecemeal tour shall take place on 23 June, 4 – 6 pm.
